Mahuaa TV Channel competes one year of operation
The first Bhojpuri entertainment TV channel Mahuaa celebrated its first anniversary on 9th August 2009. During its very first year of transmission Mahuaa has to its credit a veritable potpourri of dishes with an assortment of all the flavors in the entertainment industry, including fictional serials, music and dance programs, reality shows, and comedy shows.
Beginning with such family dramas as Anchra Ke Moti, Doli Sajaa Ke, Saaton Vacahanva and Mehndi Tohra Naam Ke, the channel presented Bahubali a mega serial made to order for the Bhojpuri viewers. This popular serial narrated the untold story of the nexus between politics and crime in the Bhojpuri belt.
The year 2009 brought serials of different genre. Ganga-Jamuna was the life story of two young girls, Ghar Pahuncha De dealt with reincarnation, Ballia Kranti was a period subject narrating the freedom struggle, Khandaan elucidated life in a joint family. And then there was Kaluaa Deeh, the eerie yet gripping story revolving around the Bhojpuri custom of worshipping village deities.
Another serial Badki Malkain depicts the feminine qualities of love, affection, dedication and sacrifice of a widow for the sake of her dead husband's family.
Parallel to these fictional shows, there were early morning spiritually enlightening features like Ram Ram Ke Bera, Bihane Bihane which not only reminded the viewers of their rich ancient heritage but also educated them on the art of living. Bihane Bihane which has been on the screen from the day the channel was launched, also enlightened the viewers about their past, present, and, future through its segment on Astrology.
Another spiritual program Manas Paath, describes the life and times of Lord Rama. Besides this, there were also full fledged serials like Om Namah Shivay and Gayatri Mahima.
Coming to the lighter side of programs, Marle Muski, Dhishum Dhishum, Kharkat News (A satirical spoof on news) and the popular reality cum competition show Hansi Ka Akhada won over the viewers with their laugh riots.
The Bhojpuri community loves music and dance and Mahuaa is no exception. Mora Rang De Basanti Chola on Independence day, Birha Dangal, and musical programs on Navratri, Chath, Teej and Holi provided wholesome entertainment to the viewers. Besides this Bhauji Number one provided the platform for the common housewives to test their talents.
The year 2009 brought with it the immensely popular Sur Sangram, a competition for the best musical talent in the Bhojpuri Belt.
Almost all the programs of Mahuaa have been produced and presented by wellknown banners like Prakash Jha Productions, Saibaba Telefilms, and Entertainment- Entertainment. Stalwarts like Prakash Jha, Gajendra Singh, Anil Ajitabh, and Manoj Tiwari have been an integral part of Mahuaa.
With the continued patronage of its viewers, Mahuaa promises to attain dizzier heights in the years to come.
